Fall Update 2026

September 18, 2026

I can't believe it has been a year since my last update. Time really flies by. Since our last post the MAST Lab has had many significant achievements.

First we presented research at 6 different conferences, with our most significant output at the Canadian Psychological Association conference in Montreal in June 2026. A team of 10 of us (PI, graduate students, and undergraduate students) participated in both oral and poster presentations and made new connections as we strategize future projects. We will make those presentations available.

Thesis work continued to progress: Olive Huang defended her MA thesis, Riad El-karout proposed his mater's thesis, and 3 honours theses were successfully completed.

Research projects continued and/or wrapped up: We wrapped up our initial pilot iDBT intervention and have continued to work on our RCT of couples therapy for BPD. We also started our second emotions and mental health study, which consists of a more resource-intensive in-person 2-hour study. Thanks to Olive for taking the lead on this over the past year.

Several papers were produced since the last update, most of these are available as open-access publications. You are welcome to send reprint requests if needed. We have several draft manuscripts in motion and a few submissions underway.

Collectively, it has been a busy but productive 2025-2026 academic year. We are looking forward to starting new projects over the next year as we submit new funding applications.
